12/30/2023 0 Comments Jasper high school attendance office![]() When a student has had 10 absences or a combined total of 20 absences, lates, tardies, or early pick-ups in the school year, any further absences for illness must be verified by a physician.If a student shows a pattern of chronic absenteeism due to illness, District staff may require physician verification of any further student absences.District staff may request a note from the medical office to confirm the time of the appointment.If a student has 3 or more unexcused tardies in excess of 30 minutes during the school year, the student may be considered a truant and the parents will be notified of a possible referral to a School Attendance Review Board.Įxcusing students for medical appointments: If the student is 30 minutes or more late to school, the parent/guardian must sign the student in at the front office. If the student is less than 30 minutes late, the office will provide a late pass to class. Students arriving late to school must sign in at the school office prior to going to class. No child is sent home alone during school hours when he/she is ill. If a child becomes ill or has an accident at school, the parent may be notified to come for him/her. The note must be written and signed by the parent/legal guardian and presented upon the pupil's arrival at the school office. The written note should state the name of the student, the nature of the illness or other reason for the absence, the date of the absence, and the teacher’s name. Pupils who are absent must bring a written notice for readmission, or the parent/legal guardian must call the school the morning of the absence before 10:00 AM. We also urge you to follow the recommended procedures below, if your student must be absent from school. When these occur, we urge you to keep an open line of communication with your school staff and teacher(s) to ensure that your student remains engaged in the learning process. We recognize that illnesses may arise as well as unusual circumstances.
